Let’s face it guys, Tom Ford is one of the coolest brands out there! The designer house represents luxury, exclusivity and creativeness!
The above video summarises my main thoughts on these top 5 but this blog will delve deeper in to each fragrance, discussing details about each you may not know about or the kind of person each will appeal to!
Let’s get in to it!
5 - Grey Vetiver
This is a very smooth vetiver scent, modernised and made ‘chic’, unlike traditional scents like Guerlain’s Vetiver. This is perfectly clean, mature and professional.
This has slight sex appeal to boot as well but this is not a compliment monster by any means. This is a softly projecting scent for a man who means business.
4 - Noir Extreme
A beautiful and supremely sweet scent with a distinct kulfi note in here. Kulfi is an Indian frozen dairy dessert often served with pistachios. If you like exotic scents, this is it.
This definitely has a ‘gourmand’ feel to it and is one of the greatest date night scents ever created! Bear in mind this is soft projecting too, so make sure you have a close encounter…
3 - Ombre Leather
Tuscan leather was a tricky to get in to leather scent that also had raspberry in it. Ombre leather smooths it out with a less harsh leather note that is the main character here.
Sexy, smoky masculine goodness that will only be appreciated if you enjoy leather scents. If you want a nice introduction in to leather fragrances, this is it!
2 - Beau de Jour
One of the best releases by Tom Ford in recent years and an absolute compliment monster! This takes barbershop scents, definitely being inspired by YSL Rive Gauche, and modernises them.
This is soapy clean lavender and oak moss with a modern touch of sweetness from Amber, making barbershop scents chic again! This is a linear fragrance and does have initial loud projection. Overall, this is a great all year option to wear as someone’s signature scent! Only for the man who dresses sharp!
1 - Oud Wood
The most iconic Tom Ford scent, this accessible Oud scent combines the ingredient with other woods to make a very ‘green’ scent in the most ‘animal’ and ‘smoky’ sense possible, creating a very unique yet addictive masculine aroma. Definitely an alpha scent.
It smooths out even more in the dry down, becoming more sensual and described as a ‘sexy second skin’ by myself. I think this is great signature material here as well for all year use. It has been reformulated but this scent is so unique and no knock off clone can ever do it justice!
Finishing Thoughts
I’ve never seen a more iconic duo…
Honourable mentions here are going to be Black Orchid (which isn’t masculine enough for me) and Tobacco Vanille. What are your thoughts guys? Which Tom Ford scents would you include in this list?
